Lemuroid is designed to make a multi-system Android library feel straightforward. You install one app, point it to a folder containing supported game backups, and let it organize the collection.
This guide covers the cleanest first setup. It does not provide games, BIOS files, or links to copyrighted downloads.
1. Install the verified app
Open the Lemuroid download page and choose the recommended Google Play install or the official GitHub-hosted APK. Before installing, check that the app is Lemuroid and that you reached it through one of those verified sources.
Avoid pages that show several look-alike download buttons, bundle unrelated installers, or describe a modified “premium” version. Lemuroid itself is free and does not contain ads.
2. Prepare your game folder
Create a folder on storage that your Android device can access. Add backups from games you legally own, keeping related files together when a game uses more than one file.
A simple structure is easier to maintain:

Game Boy Advance/
Nintendo DS/
PlayStation/
Sega Genesis/Lemuroid supports zipped game files for compatible systems, but not every archive or file arrangement works the same way. If a title is not detected, test a clean, supported dump in its original format before changing emulator settings.
3. Select the folder in Lemuroid
Open Lemuroid and choose the option to select or scan a game directory. Android will show its system folder picker. Select the folder you prepared and grant access to that location.
You do not need to grant broad access to unrelated personal folders. If your games are stored on removable storage, make sure the card is mounted and readable before scanning.
4. Let the library scan finish
Lemuroid identifies supported files and builds the library. A large folder or slower storage can take longer on the first scan. Keep the app open until the initial indexing has completed.
If a game is missing:
- confirm its platform appears on the Supported Systems page;
- check that the file is complete and in a format accepted by the relevant core;
- remove unusual nested archives;
- confirm Lemuroid still has access to the selected folder; and
- rescan after making file changes.
5. Open a game and check controls
Choose a title from the library. Lemuroid displays touch controls appropriate for the selected system. Their size and position can be adjusted, and compatible physical gamepads are supported.
Start with the default emulation settings. If the game runs correctly, change one display or control option at a time so any problem is easy to identify.
6. Understand saves
Lemuroid supports the normal saves created by a game and also provides save states. Automatic state restoration can return you to a recent point when reopening a game.
Save states are convenient, but they should not be your only backup. Keep copies of important in-game saves, especially before updating the app, moving the library, changing storage devices, or reinstalling Android.
7. Improve performance carefully
Emulation speed depends on the Android device, platform, game, and settings. PSP, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo 64 titles usually demand more hardware than earlier 8-bit or 16-bit systems.
For a slow or unstable game:
- return to the default settings;
- close demanding background apps;
- disable HD mode or expensive display effects;
- check whether the device is overheating or using a battery-saving mode; and
- test another known-good game for the same system.
8. BIOS and firmware files
Some systems or games may require firmware or BIOS data. Lemuroid does not provide copyrighted system files. Use only files obtained from hardware you own where local law permits, and place them according to the guidance shown by the app or relevant core documentation.
9. Play on Android TV
Lemuroid supports Android TV. Connect a compatible gamepad, install the app from Google Play on the TV device, and select a game folder accessible to that device. Network or removable storage behavior can vary between Android TV products.
Your setup is ready
