Lemuroid Emulator FAQ

Straight answers about installing the app, building your library, supported hardware, saves, controls, and safe downloads.

Getting started

What is Lemuroid?

Lemuroid is a free, open-source emulator for Android based on Libretro. It organizes supported games into one library and is designed to work across phones, tablets, and Android TV devices.

Does Lemuroid include games?

No. Lemuroid does not include game files. Add backups from games you legally own and follow the laws that apply where you live.

How do I install Lemuroid?

Open the verified Google Play listing, install the app, then choose the folder that contains your legally obtained game files. Lemuroid scans supported files and adds them to your library.

Games and systems

Which systems are supported?

The current release lists 23 system and platform categories, including Atari, Nintendo, Sega, PlayStation, NEC, SNK, WonderSwan, and FinalBurn Neo arcade support. See the Supported Systems page for the complete directory.

Do any systems need BIOS files?

Some systems or games may require firmware or BIOS data. Lemuroid does not provide copyrighted system files; use only files obtained from hardware you own where permitted.

Will every supported system run well on my device?

Performance depends on the Android device, game, selected core, and settings. Newer systems such as PSP, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo 64 generally need more capable hardware.

Controls and saves

Can I use a game controller?

Yes. Lemuroid supports gamepads and local multiplayer. The current release also supports quick-save and quick-load gamepad shortcuts.

How does saving work?

Games can use their normal save system, while Lemuroid also provides save states and automatic state restoration. Keep backups of important saves before changing devices or storage folders.

Does Lemuroid work on Android TV?

Yes. Android TV is supported. A compatible controller is the most practical way to play on a television.

Downloads and safety

Where is the safest place to download Lemuroid?

Use this website's download page. Google Play is recommended for most people, and the manual APK is linked directly from the official Lemuroid GitHub release. Avoid pages that imitate download buttons, bundle installers, or claim to provide modified copies.

Is Lemuroid free and does the app contain ads?

Lemuroid is completely free and the app does not contain ads. This informational website may use clearly labelled advertising in content areas, never beside the genuine download action.
